Lee M. Lockhart, 72 of Hobe Sound, FL who was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and devoted friend to many, died peacefully August 8, 2013 after a valiant fight against lung cancer. Lee was born in Covington, Virginia and was the son of the late Mildred (Polly) Hefner and Herbert Lockhart of White Sulphur Springs, WV. He attended Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, WV and proudly served his country as a Sharpshooter in the U.S. Army.
Lee began his over 50 year career in the resort and golf industry at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Over the course of his career he helped lead some of the most prestigious and successful resorts and golf properties across America including The Homestead, Pinehurst, Sea Pines, Amelia Island Plantation, Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort, Grand Cypress, Lake Lanier Islands Hotel and Golf Club, and Muirfield Village Golf Club. In addition to the Resort business, Lee also worked for the Marriot Hotel Corporation in national sales and marketing.
He not only will be remembered for his contributions to the creation and management of numerous resorts and golf properties, he will be remembered by the countless number of people he helped along the way. Lee was a long-time friend and business associate of Jack Nicklaus and was a senior executive of the Nicklaus organization for over 20 years. In 2006, he founded Trophy Golf & Resorts and served as the company's President until his death.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Jan. He was the proud father of Brian Lockhart, of Lewisburg WV, and Robert Lockhart of Atlanta, GA. He recently got to see his son Robert marry his fiancé, Ashley in Stuart, FL He leaves behind two grandchildren, Ryan Lockhart of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Aaron Lockhart of Lewisburg, WV
Services will be held at the Forest Hills Young and Prill Chapel in Stuart Florida on Saturday, August 17th. There will be a gathering from 1-3 for friends and family with a Celebration of Life Service starting at 3pm. Donations can be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice or American Cancer Society.

George L. Lemon, MD, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013.

Born June 1, 1921, and reared in West Virginia, George attended Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, WV, West Virginia University, and the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Lemon practiced medicine in public health service from the Marine Hospitals of Baltimore, MD, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. From 1947-65,he practiced in Lewisburg, WV, many of those years with his father , Dr. Charles Lemon. In 1965, George took a position at Ohio University in health service and sports medicine. From 1969 -86, he served as the director of the emergency room at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley.

Upon retirement, George and his wife, Bernice, embarked on many missions to better the lives of others, both locally and abroad. For six years they worked with Black Teens for Advancement (BTA) in Atlanta, GA. This organization was started by young men in predominately black high school and between other high schools. Before George left the program, it had grown to over 4,000 involved students. Many of those student prospered and started programs in troubled schools in other cities and states and were invited to Switzerland, Germany, and Norway to explain their methods to school officials, students, police forces, and government leaders.

George also worked nationally and internationally with the Moral & Spiritual Re-Armament Association (MRA) , contributing his medical service to that organization, made up of musical ambassadors to Romania and Poland.

A true gentleman, George will be remembered for his fun-loving nature, witty charm, and love of God that overflowed in the manner in which he ministered and cared for his family , his patients, and later for children throughout the world. The following poem that George penned in May 1993 embodies how he lived his life.

And God said.
"Take my hand and I will lead you.
Throw away your sins and I will forgive you,
Bow your head and I will protect you.
Know my Word and K will use you.
Pray constantly and I will hear you.
Listen quietly and I will speak to you.
Do my work for my glory and I will bless you."

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs Charles W. Lemon Sr.; brother and sister-in law, Charles Jr. and Norma Lemon; and brother Joseph Lemon. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, sons, daughters, grandchildren as well as his nephew George L. Lemon and wife, Becky,of Lewisburg, WV.

Charles F. Erickson went to be with our loving Lord July 4, 2013.
He was born in Man, W.Va., the son of Charlie O. and Ethel Erickson. Charles graduated from Greenbrier Military School and attended WVU before joining the military. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He then joined his father, C. O. Erickson, in business. Together they built Durfees Cable Company into the largest cable operation in West Virginia Charles also built cable systems in Virginia., Kentucky, and Michigan.

Charles and his father both felt strongly about the importance of higher education to the future of W.Va. and to the country. After C.O.'s death in 1993, the Erickson Foundation was formed. Charles promised his father he would run the foundation focusing on providing a home on West Virginia colleges and university campuses for alumni to remain connected and involved with each institution. To date there are 13 Erickson alumni centers throughout West Virginia.

In May, 2011, Charles was inducted into the Order of Vandalia, WVU's highest honor, and in 2005 he was named Mountaineer of the Year. In May, 2013, he received an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Concord University.

Charles leaves behind his loving wife, Laurie; two sons, Charles II (Lynn) of Washington, N.C. and Brandon of Boca Raton, Fla.; his grandson, Chase, who was the light of his life; two sisters, Donna Tulley of Savannah, Ga. and Myra Scott (Lee) of Chapel Hill, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 11, at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV.

Service will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 12, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend W. Douglas Hood from his church in Fla. and Reverend Michael Seely.

Burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with military rites by the American Legion Post #15.

Duane Charles Parsons, age 70, of Rome, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.
He was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on December 1, 1942, the son of the late Decoe Parsons and the late Pauline Virginia Detamore. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Max D. Parsons.

Duane was a graduate of Greenbrier Military School, Class of 1959. A long time resident of the Washington, DC area, Mr. Parsons moved to Rome in 1995 with his family. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Gearin Parsons, one daughter; Kirsten McGee and her husband Dylan, three sons; Derek C. Parsons and his wife Kate; Damien C. Parsons, and Devin C. Parsons and his wife Audrey. His sister Jan Bishopp, five grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews also survive.

CATLETTSBURG — Robert R. Hatfield, 79, of Catlettsburg, died
Wednesday evening, May 15, 2013, at his residence.

Bob was born Dec. 29, 1933, in Ashland, a son of the late Grover
and Lillian Thornsbury Hatfield.

He was the former general manager of Machinery Incorporated and
was a U.S. veteran.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Berry and her husband, Tom;
sisters, Peggy Thirion and her husband, Tim, and Jean Woods and
her husband, Charlie; brother, Clancy Hatfield; and grandson
Robby Berry, all of Ashland; and special nephew, Beau Martin and
his wife, Katie, of Nashville, Tenn.

“Big Bob” as he was affectionately called by friends and
family, wanted to express his love and appreciation to all his RC
racing buddies and his dear, dear friends at the Cannonsburg
Methodist Food Pantry.

The family has chosen to grieve privately and wishes to thank
everyone for their love and prayers.

In Loving Memory - John J. Hadley - 7/14/1943 - 4/13/2013

John J. Hadley,69, of Marietta, OH, died at his residence on Saturday, April 13, 2013, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born on July 14, 1943, in Marietta, OH, a son of the late Harold B. and Virginia M. Sendelbeck Hadley.

He attended Washington Elementary School, Marietta, OH, Greenbrier Military School, Lewisburg, WV, and graduated from Marietta High School in 1961 where he was a member of the 1959 undefeated Marietta Tiger football team. He attended Marietta College, where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, and graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1965.

He proudly served the Marietta area community as a funeral director for nearly 50 years, helping people in one of life's most difficult times of need.

John was appointed to the Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors for the State of Ohio and served 3 terms, a total of 15 years, as one of five funeral directors selected by the governor for the position. In this capacity, he enjoyed meeting and mentoring young apprentices and helping to prepare them for careers as funeral directors as well as ensuring the integrity of the funeral profession throughout the state of Ohio.

He was honored to further serve the Marietta community as a member of the Board of Directors of Settlers Bank.

He was a lifetime member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Marietta, OH.

John was a member of Harmar Lodge #390, F & AM, Marietta, OH. Also, he was a member of Nemesis Shrine, Parkersburg, WV, where he proudly served as Potentate in 2008. His devotion to the fellowship and philanthropy of the Shrine was unparalleled. He was a member of Marietta Shrine Club, Marietta, OH (Past President 1977), Central WV Shrine Club, Clarksburg, WV, Lewis County Shrine Club, Weston, WV, Ohio Valley Shrine Club, Parkersburg, WV, Wirt County Shrine Club, Elizabeth, WV, and Tyler County Shrine Club, Sistersville, WV, where he was appointed as liason beginning in 1998 and where he truly belonged. He was an honorary member of the Motorized Unit of Nemesis Shrine and a member of Ben Bey Grotto, Parkersburg, WV.

He was a devoted member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Court #156, Parkersburg, WV, where he served as Director in 1999 and as Impresario since 2000. He also acted as President of South Atlantic Shrine Association Jesters in 2005. "Digger" was a member of Jesters on Wheels and loved riding his custom purple Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

John was the Chairman of the City of Marietta, OH, National Clean-Up Campaign from 1967-1970 during which time Marietta won an award for being one of the 10 best small cities in the country. He also won the Outstanding Young Man Award in 1967-1968 from the Marietta Jaycees.

He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks #477, Marietta, OH, and Loyal Order of Moose #1823, Marietta, OH. John also was a member of the Professional Car Society, where he served 3 years as President.

John is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Barbara Lois Bonar Hadley whom he married on June 21, 1980. He is also survived by his son John "Rob" Hadley (Pamela) and their children Kyle (Kathryn) and Trevan O'Keefe and Desiree Schmitz of Marietta, OH, his daughters Jamie Hadley Godsey (Craig) of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Lois Virginia Hadley Beckman (Matt) of Gahanna, OH, and his brother H. Lee Hadley (Ruth) of Newport, OH.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike Street, Marietta, OH with Roger Rush and Pastor Steve Mahaffey officiating. Visitation will be observed all day on Tuesday April 16 at the funeral home. John Thomas Anderson “Tom” , 86 passed away March 31, 2013. He was born February 20, 1927 in Charleston, SC. He retired from South Carolina Gas & Electric Company after 27 years of service.

Thomas B. Moorhead, 86, was born December 28, 1925, and passed away in Louisville, Ky., where he had been living in recent years. The son of Milton Merritt Moorhead and Dorthy Simon Moorhead and brother of Milton Moorhead Jr., all deceased, was a Charleston native. He attended Charleston High School, Greenbrier Military School, Lewisburg, and West Virginia University. He enlisted with the Army at 18, attended officer training school and served in the Philippines during World War II.
His business career spanned many decades in Charleston; most notable was the Minit Man Automatic Car Wash. Originally located on Lee Street, the Minit Man moved to Virginia Street in 1959 and remained there under his ownership until its sale in the late '90s. Mr. Moorhead had pioneered this industry since 1950. He served as president of the Automatic Carwash Association and was inducted into the Carwash Hall of Fame.
Other businesses included: Safety Sign, Budget Rent-a-Car, Peter Pan Cleaners, Econ-O-Rent TV, West Virginia Communications, Neighbormart Convenience Stores, the Pansy Brown Restaurant and Gihon Village Shopping Center in Parkersburg.
Tom was as funloving as he was hardworking. He acted in many productions with the Kanawha Players and the Charleston Light Opera Guild. He supported, with his wife, Janie, the Sunrise Museum. He volunteered for years with Meals On Wheels and loved every minute of it. He took great pride and pleasure in his membership of Phi Kappa Psi fraterinity and his 50-year membership in the Rotary Club of Charleston.
Tom Moorhead invested all of his talents and imagination in the city he was so proud to call home. He spent all of his love on family and friendships. A life well lived.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jane Brown Moorhead; and his son, David Merritt Moorhead. He is survived by his daughters, Mollie M. (Robert F.) Gates of Charleston and Ann B. Moorhead of Louisville, Ky. It was his personal request that there be no memorial service.

Robert Liggett Faulwetter July 31, 1937 - Nov. 15, 2012 Mr. Robert Liggett Faulwetter, 75, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 15, 2012. He was born July 31, 1937 to the late Arthur John Faulwetter and Irma Louise Liggett Faulwetter. Robert was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Winston-Salem Train Club and Rural Hall Historical Society. After retirement he became involved with Crisis Control Ministries and King Outreach Ministries. Robert is survived by his wife, Linda Faulwetter of the home, a daughter, Beth Faulwetter of Winston-Salem, a son, Chris Faulwetter and wife Jennifer of East Bend and a grandson, Dawson Faulwetter of East Bend. A private graveside service will be conducted Monday, November 19, 2012. The family will receive friends from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
