Richard F. Waid '47 died February 25, 2016 in Atlanta, GA. He is survived by his wife Pamela. He attended Greenbrier Military School as a Post Graduate during the school year of 1947.
Richard F. Waid, also known as Dick, served as Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated. Mr. Waid was responsible for working with capital markets teams, particularly investment banking and private equity at Robert W. Baird. Prior to joining Robert W. Baird & Co. in 2002, he served as Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division at Robinson-Humphrey, a part of SunTrust in Atlanta. He joined Robinson-Humphrey in 1992 and served as Head of the its National Real Estate, Energy and Industrial Practice Groups within the Investment Banking Division. Prior Robinson-Humphrey, he was with Kidder, Peabody & Co. in New York for more than 20 years, last serving as a Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance. He started his professional career with IBM and helped take a venture capital-financed business public, leading to his career on Wall Street. He serves on the board of the University of Richmond. He also serves as an Investor Advisor of Fairfax Partners. He served as director of a number of public and private corporations, including North Carolina Natural Gas (now part of Progress Energy) since 1981. He served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army. Mr. Waid earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, attended the Graduate School of Business and Public Management at George Washington University and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
