MIZE, Benton Lloyd Jr., 81, of Ruther Glen, passed away on March 26, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Maria R. Mize; sons, Lloyd B. Mize III (Rachel), James L. Luntsford and Dudley L. Luntsford; daughters, Linda M. Pittman (Kenneth), Catherine L. Edwards and Christina V. Kothe; a sister, Nancy M. Burnham (Ron); nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lloyd was the owner of Mize Hardware in Ruther Glen, Va. He was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Lloyd was a 1949 graduate of Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, WV, a four year cadet and held the rank of Captain. Lloyd was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and served his country in Korea. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Lloyd had a great sense of humor and a giving heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 25187 Signboard Rd., Ruther Glen, Va. 22546. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church reception hall following the services. What a shock to learn of Lloyd's death. Like so many good intentions mine to contact Lloyd was always procrastinated over again and again. We were close in miles but regretfully never got together. We were classmates and also suite mates that final year 1949. May he rest in peace.
