William D. Lynch, 77, of Middletown passed away peacefully on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Unit at Christiana Hospital.Bill was the son of the late Mary and Joseph Lynch.

He was a graduate of Salesianum School. He attended Greenbrier Military School, and received a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice from Wilmington College. Bill served as a police officer for the city of Wilmington for over 21 years, retiring as Captain in 1983. He was a graduate of the 92nd Session of the FBI National Academy. He then worked as Manager of Corporate Security for Hercules retiring in 2002. Bill also served his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Letitia Ann, his brothers Joseph Lynch and Daniel Lynch, and his sister Patricia Lane. Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Roberta "Bobbie"; his daughter Stacy and her husband John Sanders; his 3 granddaughters Maura, Abigail and Amanda; and his sister Ellen Valiante.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning September 1st at 10 am at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be held Thursday evening August 31 from 7-9pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
