OBITUARY- Samuel Joseph Scumaci
July 2, 1951- February 8, 2025
Samuel Joseph Scumaci of Pawleys Island, SC passed away peacefully, in the care of hospice on February 8, 2025 in Austin, Texas. Sam was born on July 2, 1951 in Morgantown, WV, and was a 1969 graduate of Greenbriar Military School in Lewisburg, WV. After earning a degree in accounting from West Virginia University (1973), Sam worked for the Inspector General’s office at the Pentagon until his retirement to Pawleys Island, SC in 2006. In late 2024 he traveled to Austin,Texas to be near his daughter.
Sam was a doting father, a loyal friend, and a lifetime fan his alma maters, especially WVU sports. In his retirement he enjoyed golfing, and traveling abroad with his daughter. He attended Precious Blood of Christ Church in Pawleys Island regularly until his mobility became impaired.
Sam is survived by his daughter Michelle Scumaci and her fiance, Jade McLaughlin; Michelle’s mother Karen Hodge; his sisters: Maria Scumaci Spencer of Deep Creek, MD, Carla Scumaci and spouse Beth Dean of Pawleys Island, SC, Sheila Scumaci of Nashville, TN, and his brother Ralph Scumaci and spouse Kellie Myers Scumaci. He was preceded in death by his sister Paula Scumaci Burton, and parents Marguerite Antonelli Scumaci and Ralph Paul Scumaci, Senior.
