Robert "Bob" Mason Weikle Obituary
Robert (Bob) Mason Weikle, 88, of Crozet, VA passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at his home in Crozet, VA. His wife, Patricia was at his side. Bob was a devoted and loving husband, a caring and generous father, and a doting grandfather. He was a proud graduate of West Virginia University, an avid golfer, a high school basketball official, and a talented and skillful carpenter. He expressed his love and affection for others with his hands, by crafting furniture, wooden toys, chessboards, and many other wonderful items.

Born May 19, 1937 in Organ Cave, West Virginia, he was the oldest son of Mary and Mason Weikle. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Ann (nee Fleshman) Weikle; his son, Robert (Bobby) Mason Weikle, II and his wife, Dee Ann Burgess Weikle of Crozet, VA; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Morgan Weikle, Madison Taylor Weikle and Lt. Richard Almon Mason Weikle; his brothers William Henry Weikle of Organ Cave WV, Douglas Weikle of Aurora, CO, and Phillip Eugene Weikle of Lewisburg, WV, and his sister, Sue Ellen Kemp of Roanoke, VA.

He attended the Greenbrier Military School upon graduating from Greenbrier High School, Ronceverte, WV, in 1955. After finishing his studies in mathematics at West Virginia University, he commissioned into the United States Army in 1961, serving in uniform for twenty-one years including a tour of duty in Vietnam where he would receive the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1982 and continued his career as a program manager with Lockheed Aerospace until his retirement in 1995.

Bob treated everyone he knew and met with dignity and respect. He was generous and was always ready to do for others in need while not calling attention to himself. He leaves a legacy his children, family, and friends will treasure.

A memorial service to honor Bob, his life and his service will be scheduled early next year, after the holidays.
