Robert C. Johnson, Ballard, WV

Robert "Bob" Charles Johnson, 73, of Ballard departed this life and went to be with his Lord Jesus, July 23, 2012 at his home in the loving care of his wife, friends and hospice staff. Bob succumbed to cancer after a yearlong struggle. Born in Cumberland, MD on June 12, 1939, he was the son of the late Elmer Leroy and Gladys Alberta Emmart Johnson. He was preceded in death by his former wife Mary Sue Lively and their daughter Melissa Dawn Johnson and grandson Shane David. He is survived by his wife (first name?) Ellen Spangler Johnson of Ballard, WV; one son Robert C. Johnson, II and wife Donna Marie Johnson of Biloxi, MS; two daughters, Robin Sweeney and husband Victor Sweeney of Biloxi, MS and Via Hope Austin and husband Ricky Austin of Biloxi, MS; two brothers Wayne Leroy Johnson of Wiggins, MS and Gary W. Johnson and wife Sandra Johnson of Asheville, NC; five nephews; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Bob spent two years at Greenbrier Military School, Lewisburg, WV and graduated from Pearisburg High School in 1957 and attended classes at Roanoke Business College and Virginia Tech before working at the Celanese plant in Narrows. He also worked as a sales associate for Kirby and Electrolux vacuum cleaner companies and as a jailer for Harrison County Sheriff Department, MS. Visitation will be the evening of Tuesday, July 24, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, WV. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 25 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel.
