Dr. Paul Ellis Prillaman Jr., died on Monday, May 20, 2013, after a brief illness.
A private memorial service is planned.
Paul was born in Beckley, W.Va., the son of Dr. Paul E. Prillaman Sr. and Sally Haller Prillaman.
He was a graduate of Greenbrier Military School and the University of Virginia where he received his undergraduate and medical degrees. After completing his surgical residency and thoracic surgical fellowship, he joined his father in surgical practice in Ronceverte, W.Va. In a partnership spanning ten years, they provided selfless medical care to the residents of Greenbrier County. From 1972 until his retirement, Dr. Prillaman was a partner in Bradenton Surgical, working at Blake Medical Center and Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.
Paul’s greatest joy was his family, serving as their constant support. He will be remembered for his generous and humble spirit, as well as for his wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ginger; three children, Elizabeth Woolford and husband, Jim, Sarah Prillaman, and Paul Prillaman and wife, Hannah; five grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Bauer and Jacqueline Oler; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tidewell Hospice/Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238 or to the charity of your choice.
