John R. Hornbrook, Jr.
June 22, 1918 — June 13, 2011
John R. Hornbrook, Jr., born June 22, 1918, departed this life on June 13, 2011, at Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late John R. Hornbrook and Mary B. Lilly Hornbrook. He was the last living member of his family.
He was a graduate of the Greenbrier Military School and West Virginia University. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma social fraternity, a member of the Penn State Zoological Society and of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists. Until his retirement he was a a professor at Pennsylvania State University.
He is survived by a nephew, Judge H. L. Kirkpatrick III and his wife Rebecca, one niece, Ann Kirkpatrick Price and her husband Donald, and great nephews, John Kirkpatrick and Robert Kirkpatrick, all of Beckley, West Virginia.
A mausoleum service was held at Sunset Memorial Park, Mausoleum A, on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Chuck Pullins of the United Methodist Temple officiating.
