Daniel Ray Martin, 72, of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at his home. He was a life long resident of Giles County. He was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows, where he faithfully reached out to the youth of Giles County and was always ready to provide transportation to anyone willing to ride in the back of his truck. He was an avid coach of little league sports in Narrows, where he never picked favorites and made sure everyone had a good time. Dan's home was always open to anyone, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Daniel was born in Narrows on October 23, 1939, and was the son of the late James Bo and Myrtle Shrader Martin.
He is survived by one son, Gabriel Martin and wife Jennifer of Pembroke; and one daughter Temple Martin of Narrows; one sister, Anna Sue Presley of Hazel Park, Michigan; four brothers, Thomas Martin and wife Judy of Haymarket, Va., Bill Martin and wife Judy of Staunton, Va., Jimmy Martin of Salem, and Clifford (Kip) Martin and wife Janet of Broad Run, Va., several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); 605 Memorial Boulevard in Narrows, with Ed Tiller, Minister, officiating.
