LEWISBURG — Richard Lee “Rick” Skaggs II, 60, of Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2012, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Born November 20, 1951, in Ronceverte, Rick was the son of Virginia Craggs Skaggs of Lewisburg and the late Richard Lee “Dick” Skaggs.
Rick was Owner of Quick Essentials in Lewisburg, former owner of Park Grove Farms Feed Store and Mountaineer Bump Shop was a member of the Old Stone Presbyterian Church, and was a member of Richlands Ruritan Club.
Other than his father, Rick was preceded in death by son-in-law Greg Carter.
Survivors include wife Mary Lou Skaggs of Lewisburg; mother Virginia S. Skaggs of Lewisburg; daughter Melissa Skaggs Carter of Lewisburg; stepdaughter Suzanne Brown of Maxwelton; stepgrandson Tyler Caldwell of Maxwelton; sister Ginnie (Dan) Glick of Clarksville, MD; brother Kim (Debbie) Skaggs of Richmond, VA; Melissa’s mother Nanette Skaggs of Lewisburg; aunt Barbara Braun of N.J.; uncles Bill Russell of Lewisburg and Douglas Craggs of Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
Rick was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School and was a post graduate student at Greenbrier Military school in 1970
Service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Dexter Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
